Estate Planning for Pets.

If your children are the furry ones, you may want to consider estate planning to provide for a new home and continued care if you pass away. Pets are a very important part of many people's lives. Your furry loved ones deserve to have a secure future in the event of your untimely death.

The most common approach I advocate for my clients is to give a donation to a local rescue organization to find a new home for your pets if you do not have a suitable guardian in mind. For example, if you have two pugs, you might want to instruct a local pug rescue to find a new home for your dogs along with a sizable donation.

In addition, a properly prepared Durable Power of Attorney can have a provision for your attorney-in-fact care for your pets in case if your incapacity.
